Things To Do Before Saying Your 'I Do's'

So you're getting married! This is one of the most exciting events in your lifetime. Find the time to take it all in and enjoy it.

From booking a venue to choosing invitations to finding the perfect attire, it can be a remarkably overwhelming and time-consuming process.
But with a little assistance and a time-line to follow, you will slowly begin to check things off your 'to-do' list. With every check you will feel a sense of accomplishment. Before you know it, you'll be saying your "I DO'S".

Here is a time-line of recommended tasks to be completed to help you plan the perfect wedding. Please keep in mind that some weddings may require different lead times and tasks that may not be listed.

12 months or more before the wedding date:

· Establish potential dates and times for your wedding
· Settle on the wedding size, formality and setting.
· Create an engagement guest list and organize party
· Visit reception venues of interest
· After deciding on the suitable venue for you,
reserve the date and time with the venue.
· Reserve date and time for ceremony location
· Meet with and book you wedding officiant
· Select your wedding party and confirm attendants
· Compose an initial guest list
· Create gift registry

 

9 – 12 months before the wedding date:

· Order your wedding dress and attendants attire

· Book you videographer
· Book your photographer
· Reserve caterer (if separate from reception venue)
· Book decorator (décor, linens, chair covers, etc)
· Book live entertainment or DJ
· Book your florist
· Research accommodations for out-of-town guests
· Book musicians for ceremony
· Book hair and make up stylist

6-9 months before the wedding date:

· Order you wedding invitation and any other stationary
· Reserve limousine service
· Order favours for attending guests
· Inquire about marriage license requirements

3-6 months before the wedding date:

· Order your wedding cake
· Choose your wedding rings
· Finalize your guest list start collecting addresses
· Select a reader for your ceremony (if necessary)
· View florist samples for bouquets and centerpieces and finalize order
· Reserve groomsmen attire
· Make appointment with hair stylist and makeup artist for
trial (bring your veil with you and wear a white shirt)
· Book honeymoon

2-3 months before the wedding date:

· Decide on your wedding vows and meet with officiant
to prepare ceremony program
· Finalize menus
· Have programs and menus printed
· Confirm reception and ceremony venue date and times
· Confirm details with entertainment, DJ and/or musician
· Make nail appointment (if required)
· Schedule final dress fitting
· Apply for marriage license
· Plan rehearsal dinner/lunch
· Mail Out Your Wedding Invitations

1 month before the wedding date:

· Meet with videographer and photographer
· Call any guests who have not yet R.S.V.P.'d
· Confirm honeymoon reservations
· Draft speeches
· Confirm transportation
· Confirm decorator(linens)

2 weeks before the wedding date:

· Pick up bridesmaid dresses
· Finalize seating plan
· Have the rehearsal
· Pick up groomsmen attire
· Confirm final number of guests with reception venue/caterer
· Deliver marriage license to officiant
· Arrange tasks for wedding party
· Prepare final payments required for the wedding day.
· Pack for honeymoon

The day of the wedding:

· Give wedding rings to the best man
· ENJOY YOUR DAY!!!!
