Lycra Linens
Dyeing pants with Rayon/Nylon/Lycra Spandex blend?
So, I'm not sure if my roommates washed a load with bleach right before I washed a load of blacks, or if they were cleaning the top of the washing machine and some cleaner with bleach got down into the machine, but either way, I washed a load of blacks and over half of the shirts/pants came out with lovely orange spots on them. I'm trying to dye my apron and pants that I wear to work, since they are both all-black. I bought black Tulip Permanent Fabric Dye, but when I was in the store I couldn't remember what the pants were made out of. Cotton, linen, ramie, rayon, as well as wool, silk, and polyester/cotton mixes are listed as "suitable fabrics", but pure polyester, acrylic, nylon, and fabric with special finishes are listed as "not suitable". The pants I'm trying to dye are 77% Rayon, 20% Nylon, and 3% Lycra Spandex.
Should I get another kind of dye or will the pants survive with this dye? Thanks in advance!
If the pants were dyed from something your roommates did, they will be OK.
Have you checked to see if the orange spots might be rust stains from the washer?
