Experience Fishing In Alaska - At It’s Best
Experience Fishing In Alaska - At It’s Best
Welcome to McDougall Lodge
Where you can experience world-class fishing for all five species of Pacific Salmon, native Rainbow Trout and Northern Pike. Your private Alaskan fishing guide, will consistently put you in position to land that trophy fish of a lifetime. 60 + lb. King Salmon, 15 + lb. Silver Salmon, and 8+ lb. Rainbow Trout are all well within reach on Lake Creek, one of the top rivers in all of Alaska.
World Class Accommodations
Lake Creek is a clear, gravel-bottom river that flows approximately 65 miles south from its headwaters near Mt. McKinley to its mouth at the confluence of the glacial Yentna River. A short 35 minute floatplane flight from Anchorage is all that stands between you and the world-renowned fishing of Lake Creek. The lodge is located approximately 55 miles northwest of Anchorage in the remote Alaskan wilderness and is only accessible by boat or floatplane.
Cozy Backwoods Environment
McDougall Lodge offers private rooms within the lodge, or you can stay in one of our 5 guest cabins. All cabins have a riverfront view of the Yentna River. All accommodations are comfortable and cozy. We offer brand new mattresses and warm linens for your comfort.
After a long, satisfying day on the river, nothing refreshes you more than a hot and relaxing shower located near the guest cabins in the bathhouse. Four large bathrooms are equipped with sink and shower – along with hot and cold running water and electricity (which is generated by the lodge’s own power plant). Fresh towels and supplies are replenished daily for your use.
Wildlife Viewing
Our fly outs are a photographer’s dream. Be sure to bring extra film for our trips. You usually don’t have to try real hard to see wildlife in the Lake Creek area. We would be happy to either drive you around in the boat or we can schedule a flight seeing trip directly from the lodge (great aerial viewing).
Commonly seen are moose, fox, wolf, beaver and a wide assortment of birds including eagles, owls, ducks, geese and much more…
The fishing
All fishing is guided 3 or 4 clients per guide depending on time of year and water levels. This ensures that each client receives the personal attention he/she deserves. All 5 species of Pacific salmon run Lake Creek at different times of the year (see chart below). Rainbow Trout, Grayling and Northern Pike can be caught year round. You can choose to fly fish or to spin or bait cast depending on the time of year and proven methods. Our guide will do everything in his power to put you into the fish of a lifetime. Join us on that fishing trip of a lifetime....You won't be disappointed.
Lake Creek starts at the base of Mount McKinley and runs 65 miles to the Yentna River. It is a clear, gravel-bottom river where all species of Pacific Salmon flock to spawn each year. Our lodge sits approximately 1.5 miles from the mouth of Lake Creek.
Your private Alaskan fishing guide will customize your trip to suit your individual style. Jet sleds allow us to fish the lower 8 miles of Lake Creek as well as various other clear-water tributaries of the Yentna River.
The mouth of Lake Creek is considered one of the top salmon fishing bites in Alaska.
Our guides are some of the best fishermen in Alaska and our Lodge Manager is locally known as the best fisherman on the Yentna. We promise to do everything we can to make your experience memorable.
You can log onto our site www.McDougallLodge.com to find our more information on what to expect such as transportation, airfare, what to pack, accommodations, location, staff, rates and packages and other frequently asked questions.
McDougall Lodge is also part of Alaska's Big 5 Lodges – the sister lodges are Talaview Lodge, Talvista Lodge, Talstar Lodge, and Angel Haven Lodge
Book now for the fishing trip of a lifetime.
We hope to see you soon!
