Frills Linens

Wedding question?
Thank you ahead of time for any and all help. I am getting married March 7th of this year. We are both in out late 30's...I have never married before...and we have planned on a simple ceremony with friends and family at a small chapel. At my age, I decided not to do the full fledged frills filled wedding...not sending out announncements or invitations...no attendants...just the basics. I would like to post an announcement on the employee board at work inviting anyone who wishes to attend, but have no idea how to word it! Any suggestions? Also, a friend and coworker is insisting I register SOMEWHERE so they can buy gifts..but this makes me feel like I'm inviting them only for the gifts. Should I register at Walmart or Target for simple things we need...like linens, towels, and small kitchen stuff..or just not register? Again..thanks to all for your help! And please wish me luck!
I agree that since you don't have formal invitations registering is not necessary, BUT since someone requested that you register i thnk Target or Walmart is the right idea.
Another note about registering, as a person who has attended many weddings (both as a guest and in a professional capacity) I think registering is extremely helpful! Wedding etiquette states though guests are not required to bring/send a gift, they really should do so. So I love it when a bride and groom register so that I know what I am getting them is something they like, and will use. I would hate to get a gift that is put in a closet or returned because it was not something they wanted or not in their taste. Though your wedding is small you probably won't have to worry about that too much, but for larger weddings it can be a real hassel for the bride and groom to have to return or store items they will never use.
Anyway it sounds like people at your work want to participate, I'm sure no one thinks that you are demanding gifts. So just be gracious and enjoy everyone who attends (and their gifts!!)
Good luck!
