Elegant Events Linens
what type of suit should a man wear to a summer "Garden party" wedding reception in August?
This reception is being held at a very elegant home in the united states, as the follow -up reception to the Wedding that took place in England ( Henley on Thames) this spring.
It is considered a "Garden Party" type reception,yet the dress is to be "dressy formal". The reception begins at 5:00 pm into the evening.
Would it be appropriate for my husband to wear his Black formal suit and a light colored silk shirt or
would it be more appropriate to wear a light colored , perhaps linen suit to this event?
Any rules of thumb or advise on this is greatly appreciated.

a linen suit may be too informal for this type of event. a black suit with a light shirt/tie combo would be a little more appropriate.
however, if your going to buy a suit anyway, i would recommend a seersucker suit. they're really in now and would be the best option. i recommend a white/gray suit, so that you can match any color shirt and tie with it. shoe-wise, tan or white should would go well with the suit
