How to decorate a narrow hallway?

I have a very narrow hallway in my apartment. It is a main hallway that everyone sees. One side is all wall and the other side all doors. Double doors going to the closet, a door going to my storage unit and another door going to my linen closet. At the end of the hallway is a door to my bathroom. So the only thing you can see looking down my hallway is a bathroom!
The hallways is probably on 3 - 4 feet wide.
It echos a lot.
My main issue is the echoing.
I do not want to put a runner down the hallway.

The only way to stop the echoing is to either do carpeting, some sort of rug, and/or adding some sort of drapery/tapestry hanging to the wall without doors.
