Changin A Duvet Cover In Six Steps

Changing your duvet cover can be a nightmare for some people who just cannot get to grips with all the material and corners they are faced with. Well not any more. This article is a step by step guide to replacing your duvet cover, making the job quick and easy.

Step 1
First of all, you need to take the old duvet cover off your bed, ready to be washed. You will then be free from excess material which will slow down the bed changing process. You need to make sure you give yourself as much room as possible, especially if you have a king size duvet cover to change.

Step 2
The second thing to do is to turn your fresh duvet cover inside out. When you try to shove the blanket  into a cover you will understand why we use this method instead of any other. You should also lay the blanket out on the bed as you would sleep under it, so the shorter ends are at the head and foot of the bed.

Step 3
Find the two corners of the duvet cover which correspond with the two end corners of the blanket. On a traditional duvet cover this will be the two corners which are not at the opening of the cover. You may feel silly, but when you have both arms in these corners the duvet may fall over your head, if it does start again and this time bunch the duvet up as you move towards the corners.

Step 4
You then need to fix those corners to the right end of the blanket. If you laid it out as described in step 2 then you should be stood at the bottom of your bed. Depending on how long your arms are you might need to stretch to be able to reach both corners at once, but just make sure they are tightly held together.

Step 5
Now it’s time for the best bit. I am quite short which means that I cannot get the cover to fall over the entire blanket. So, once I have the corners firmly in hand I like to stand on the bed and shake the duvet cover downwards. This may require that the blanket hangs off the edge of the bed.

Step 6
If you have shaken hard enough then the duvet should now totally cover the blanket and you will be able to fasten the buttons or poppers. Once all of the buttons/poppers have been fastened, give the duvet a final shake to even out any bumps and you will have a perfectly made bed to sleep in.
